The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Bill 2012, recently passed by the Lok Sabha is certainly a step in the right direction for ensuring gender justice for women at working places. The working women in both organised sector and unorganized sector have to put up with harassment in various forms. While Vishaka Case created a system for looking into the problems women increasingly come across their day to day life at work places. It will be uncharitable to blame the legal-framework created by the apex court in this famous case for the failure of the complaints investigating machinery. However, the attitude of the male colleagues and the society has hardly undergone any change. The advent of mobile technology has made the abuse of women easier through blackmailing. What is required is a shift in the societal attitude towards the working women and their right to privacy and dignity. Until then, a safe working place for the working women will certainly remain a disappointing chimera.
